It
has long been known that an increase in the
body’s lean muscle tissue causes an increase in
metabolism; the rate at which the body burns food
and fat for energy. This scientific key factor
unlocks the mystery of bodyfat loss. Uniquely
this was a study in psychology to discover what
part the mind played, if any, in changes in body
composition and fat loss. Surprisingly, this
whole area of mind over matter has largely been
ignored. This study showed that the more the
person could be given a mental blueprint in their
mind of themselves in their best shape ever, the
more they could sculpt their body to that image.
Mind over
matter
They
became like sculptors using weight-training as
their chisel. In particular their level of
attention to what they were doing was shown to
have increased. Consequently greater mind power
applied to the exercises resulted in a greater
output of physical power. Whether male or female
they could lift heavier weights. In turn this
caused an increase in lean muscle tissue, a
subsequent increase in their metabolic rate and a
decrease in body fat.
Their body was
changing at the rate of almost a pound a
day
In addition the
people in the study were encouraged to eat a
natural low-glycemic diet and take certain food
supplements. Again because of their clear mental
blueprint they were more motivated to comply. As
their body composition was changing positively at
the rate of almost a pound a day, this acted as
feedback that they were in control, achieving
their goal and consequently they became further
motivated. Of course as in any proper university
study there was also a control group. This is a
group that must do everything the experimental
group is doing, i.e. the same weight training,
diet and supplement programmes. However the
psychological part of the programme was omitted.
This group therefore tended not to pay the same
level of attention to the training and
consequently lifted lighter weights. Their
results were not as good as they lost muscle.
Muscle loss causes a reduced metabolism and
ultimately a fat gain.
Educo®
The word
Educo® comes from Latin
and means ‘to draw out from within’. The aim of
the educogym® is to draw out your more youthful
figure / physique from within. In the university
study it was found that in order to generate peak
physical intensity it was necessary to fully
concentrate the mind on the movement. Therefore
the person was actually drawing out more of their
mental potential to achieve the results. They
were literally training both their bodies and
minds. The resultant increase in mind power and
concentration was shown to benefit many other
areas of people’s lives. Consequently, an
essential part of the educogym® training
programme is to teach people to fully apply their
mind for maximum results. In addition it also
includes the essential information on nutrition
and food supplements.


If you have read
the science behind the educogym® you will
understand the importance of maintaining or
increasing muscle. It makes sense that exercise
is a part of this system to activate the muscles
in the body. However, you may not know that many
types of exercise can be catabolic - i.e. it
causes muscle loss.
Old school
The old school
of thought is that the only reason you exercise
is to burn calories. This has spawned the whole
movement of aerobics and cardio equipment,
ranging from treadmills, bikes and cross
trainers. If you visit most gyms, you will see
rows and rows of these machines in a warehouse
like enclosing. It would seem that everyone is
training to be a marathon runner (based on
Phidippides' run to Athens who subsequently died
from exhaustion). Unfortunately, although you
burn calories during this exercise, the loss of
muscle will decrease your overall rate of burning
calories, thus meaning you'll have to exercise
more and more all the time. The problem with this
approach is that the longer you exercise, the
more catabolic it becomes. This is due to the
stress on the body that produces a hormone called
cortisol.
A new evolution in
exercise
The
positive effects of exercise are the stimulation
of the muscle fibres and activating the fat
burning/muscle gaining hormone called 'growth
hormone'(GH). These are directly impacted by the
level of intensity of the exercise. Intensity
comprises of the load (weight) and speed of the
program. In a normal warehouse type gym, this may
not be possible because of the time wasted moving
between exercises (see time
machine). The result
from this research and understanding is to
produce an intensive exercise program,
activating many muscle fibres in minimum time.
This results in the development of a new
machine and a program that involves only a 20
minute workout.

simply produces excess insulin while our natural
diet returns our insulin levels to normal. Excess
insulin has been shown in turn to suppress growth
hormone (GH). Return insulin levels to normal and
growth hormone can exert its natural function on
the body. By eating a natural diet we can halt
